Hire Art is helping an on-demand, autonomous ride-hailing company find a Hardware Engineering Technician to support the Advanced Hardware Engineering team in the testing and development of sensors, compute, and power system Electronic Control Units (ECUs).
In this role, you’ll support hardware development efforts ranging from quick-turn PCB rework to complex test system integrations. You’ll work hands-on with electrical subsystems and harness assemblies to enable fast, efficient prototyping and validation in a dynamic R&D environment.
The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in electrical assembly, soldering, and testing, along with familiarity using lab tools and reading technical documentation such as schematics and BOMs. You are proactive, detail-oriented, and eager to grow your technical skills in a fast-paced R&D environment.
As a Hardware Engineering Technician, you’ll:Assemble, modify, and document cable harnesses and test setups.Perform soldering and PCBA rework on wires (00–35 AWG), SMD chips (0201+), and ICs (QFN, BGA).Support test preparation, execution, data collection, and documentation.Manage lab inventory, equipment, and consumables, including part ordering.Maintain a safe, organized lab environment and contribute to ongoing improvements.Requirements
Experience assembling, inspecting, debugging, testing, and repairing PCBAs and cable harnessesAbility to read electrical schematics, circuit board files, BOMs, and engineering drawingsHands-on experience with EE lab equipment (soldering irons, DMMs, power supplies, oscilloscopes, etc.)Proficiency with hardware tools (crimpers, wire strippers, torque drivers, calipers, power drills, etc.)Bonus
Qualifications:
Associate degree or higher in electrical, electronics, or mechanical technology, or an equivalent fieldCertifications such as IPC-A-610, IPC-A-620, J-STD-001, or IPC-7711/7721Automotive industry experience, including ECU assembly/testing or knowledge of SAE standardsExperience coordinating with vendors for lab equipment procurement or maintenanceAbility to create or redline harness diagrams and write technical documentationExperience conducting failure analysis and quality inspections on PCBAs and harnessesFamiliarity with Ubuntu/Linux command line and/or Python scriptingAbility to lift up to 50 lbsBenefits:Pre-tax commuter benefitsEmployer (Hire Art) subsidized healthcare benefits (Eligibility begins on the first of the month following 60 days of service)Flexible Spending Account for healthcare-related costsHire Art covers all costs for short- and long-term disability and life insurance401k packageCommitment: This is a full-time, ongoing contract position staffed via Hire Art.
