Could you be the full-time Maintenance Technician in Etobicoke and Whitby we’re looking for?

Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your technical expertise in a cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside skilled and collaborative teammates.

You'll play a critical role in ensuring the safety, reliability, and performance of our rail equipment. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (including operations, engineering, and logistics), conduct inspections and repairs, and ensure that our equipment is ready for dispatch and operation.

You’ll specifically take care of scheduled inspections and unscheduled repairs, but also contribute to troubleshooting and equipment fault finding.

We’ll look to you for:

  • Movement of rail equipment as required, ensuring possession of a valid Alstom equipment operator’s certificate.

  • Performing scheduled inspections and unscheduled repairs, including component replacements on coaches and locomotives.

  • Conducting interior and exterior inspections of coaches, including all subsystems and safety equipment.

  • Ensuring locomotives and coaches are adequately prepared for dispatch.

  • Handling tasks such as truck change-outs, brake and actuator replacements, wheel changes, safety inspections, and brake tests.

  • Managing systems such as fuel, lubricating oil, cooling, compressed air, truck assembly, and locomotive electrical systems.

  • Performing repairs using hand and power tools, including pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and measuring instruments.

  • Providing clerical staff with accurate information to generate service requests and work orders.

  • Travelling to outpost locations to troubleshoot and repair equipment as needed.

  • Performing other duties as assigned.

  • Grade 12 or equivalent education.

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in mechanical and electrical maintenance.

  • Ability to read and understand electrical and mechanical drawings and maintenance manuals.

  • Experience using power tools and hand tools.

  • Familiarity with AC and DC power and control systems, as well as HVAC systems (an asset).

  • Strong recordkeeping skills.

  • Good English reading, writing, and speaking skills.

  • A valid Class G Driver’s license.
