The hourly wagerate for this position is $19.50 - $20.50 Final compensation will be determined based on relevant skills, experience, qualifications, and internal equity. The Shift Coordinator is responsible for coordinating daily cleaning and environmental services activities during an assigned shift. This position supports the Site Supervisor by overseeing frontline employees, ensuring work assignments are completed efficiently, maintaining quality standards, and responding to operational issues as they arise. The Shift Coordinator serves as the first point of contact for employees during the shift and helps ensure a safe, productive, and customer-focused work environment.

Key Responsibilities Shift Operations
  • Coordinate and monitor daily cleaning activities within assigned areas.
  • Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members at the beginning of each shift.
  • Ensure staffing coverage is maintained throughout the shift.
  • Respond to operational challenges and adjust work assignments as required.
  • Maintain service levels while meeting client and company expectations.
Staff Support
  • Provide day-to-day guidance and support to cleaning staff.
  • Assist with training and coaching new associates.
  • Monitor employee attendance and communicate staffing concerns to management.
  • Promote teamwork, professionalism, and positive employee relations.
  • Support the implementation of company policies and procedures.
Quality Control
  • Conduct routine inspections of completed work.
  • Identify service deficiencies and ensure corrective actions are taken.
  • Monitor cleaning standards and customer service expectations.
  • Report quality concerns or recurring issues to the Site Supervisor.
  • Assist in maintaining documentation of inspections and follow-up actions.
Health & Safety
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations.
  • Promote safe work practices and proper PPE usage.
  • Report hazards, incidents, and unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Participate in safety meetings and inspections.
  • Ensure cleaning chemicals and equipment are used safely.
Equipment & Supplies
  • Monitor cleaning equipment and report maintenance concerns.
  • Track inventory levels of cleaning supplies and consumables.
  • Assist with ordering and stocking supplies as required.
  • Ensure equipment is stored and maintained appropriately.
Administrative Responsibilities
  • Complete shift reports and operational documentation.
  • Communicate shift updates and outstanding issues to incoming shifts and supervisors.
  • Maintain accurate records related to staffing, productivity, and service delivery.
  • Participate in team meetings and operational reviews.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience in janitorial, custodial, environmental services, or facilities operations.
  • Previous lead hand, team lead, or supervisory experience is an asset.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Working knowledge of cleaning procedures, chemicals, and equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • WHMIS certification.
  • Health & Safety training.
  • Experience working in manufacturing, pharmaceutical, commercial, or industrial environments.
  • Experience conducting quality inspections and audits.
Working Conditions
  • Primarily facility-based environment.
  • Requires walking, standing, bending, lifting, and frequent movement throughout the facility.
  • Day, afternoon, night, weekend, and holiday shifts may be required based on operational needs.
  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals, equipment, and industrial work environments.
