METROLINX – SECURITY GUARD - Etobicoke

Security Guards are sought for a major transportation organization in multiple GTA locations on a 24/7 basis. Candidates must possess previous security experience and deliver highly visible service in a professional, competent, and courteous manner while exercising excellent communication and customer service skills. The Security Guard is responsible for securing and protecting clients, guests, vendors, and the property itself, with integrity and awareness.

• Provide protection from theft, vandalism, and trespassing
• Conduct locks and unlocks of doors, gates, and fences
• Office support such as reception tasks, receiving mail and packages, and answering phone calls
• Monitor properties via CCTV and the Access Control System
• Ensure all persons entering the facilities sign the visitor’s log on arrival and departure
• Engage in professional, collaborative, and proactive security services
• Foot patrols on site on an ongoing hourly basis
• For rail facilities only, vehicle patrols on an hourly basis
• Prevention of loitering and soliciting
• Investigate, report, and respond to incidents and alarms as required
• Assist in emergency situations such as evacuations and medical incidents
• Ensure all site equipment is secure
• Work in compliance with OHSA, AODA, CCC, and PSISA regulations, etc.
• Be responsible for keys and other equipment such as cellphones and radios
• Customer service and collaboration with visitors, staff, contractors, and other personnel
• Escalation to emergency services when necessary
• Submission of daily reports and incident reports
• Perform other relevant functions as required

• Weather Resilience:
  Must be able to work outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions — including extreme heat, cold, rain, and snow.
• Physical Stamina:
  Requires prolonged walking across uneven ground, standing, bending, and occasional lifting up to 30 lbs.
• Alertness & Responsiveness:
  Able to maintain focus, situational awareness, and act swiftly in emergency scenarios. Must remain alert around moving trains, heavy machinery, and noisy environments.
• Protective Gear:
  Required to wear weather-appropriate uniforms and PPE (raincoats, thermal layers, hard hat, safety shoes, weather-rated gear).
• Flexible Scheduling:
  Must be available to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as required by event schedules.

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Minimum of 1 year of prior security experience; transportation or industrial sites preferred
• Eligible to work in Canada
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors, think critically, perform safely, and work with a team
• Must possess an Ontario Security Guard License
• Must possess valid First Aid, CPR and AED certification (Standard Level
  
  C)
• Must possess valid G driver’s license with zero demerit points (rail facilities only)
• Strong written and verbal communication, including radio use
• Ability to work 40 hours per week is mandatory for full-time staff, inclusive of holidays and weekends
• Availability of two days per week is mandatory for casual staff
• Able to walk extended distances, including stairs, in all weather conditions

• Expected compensation: $18.75 per hour
• The compensation range reflects base hourly pay and does not include overtime or premiums where applicable.
