Skilled Trades Counsellor

Make a difference at YWCA Toronto as a Skilled Trades Counsellor, facilitating job readiness and apprenticeship programs. This full-time role focuses on coaching, client assessment, and collaboration with trade partners.

The Counsellor, Facilitator, Coach will coordinate outreach and assist eligible candidates for skilled trades programs. Your expertise will engage participants through information sessions, individual assessments, and personalized paths to journeyperson status. The role emphasizes collaboration with trade schools, community partners, and employers, promoting skilled trades as a sustainable career choice.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan outreach activities for recruiting skilled trades candidates

• Organise intake sessions and verify applicant documentation

• Conduct individual needs assessments and provide resource referrals

• Offer counselling and assist with training plans

• Track participant progress towards journeyperson status

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or related field

• 1–3 years’ experience in related roles

• Proven group facilitation and life skills training experience

• Strong organisational and communication skills

• Ability to work in a multicultural environment
