Mechanical Engineer role at MD&A

Duties & Responsibilities- Review all incoming inspection data and determine recommended work scopes for both centerline and hydraulic components.
- Provide all technical information to production, final sizes, seals and O‑ring specifications, etc.
- Approve technical documents and instructions for production.
- Effectively communicate all technical requirements to the shop floor and across the team.
- Approve technical documents and instructions and purchase orders for outside vendors.
- Approve drawings, forms and work instructions.
- Regular use of measuring instruments, hardness tester, material analyzer.
- Approve drawing tolerances and material selections for part manufacture.
- Material analysis and specification for product manufacture.
- Technical report generation.
- Ensure all component descriptions are accurate.
- Review all customer purchase orders to ensure technical specifications are addressed.
- Ensure all engineering documents and communication is properly filed.
- Development and documentation of technical work instructions and procedures.
- Continuous improvement of final product quality.
- Development of engineering technical guidelines and specifications.
- Root Cause Analysis of escaping defects and quality issues.
- Ability and willingness to support emergent work items during nights and weekends, as required during unplanned and scheduled outages.
- Travel up to 15% to other MD&A shop locations and customer power plant sites as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or 5 years relevant experience in related field.
- Positive attitude / team player.
- Self‑starter that demonstrates initiative.
- Mechanical inclination with the ability to apply knowledge to hands‑on solutions.
- Experience in power generation industry a plus.
- Ability to take direction and act independently.
- Strong communication and organization skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and remain organized while doing so.
Exposure to repair shops and office environments; ability to travel to various shops within MD&A and to field locations both domestically and internationally as needed. Ability to operate forklifts and overhead cranes.
