Department Summary
The Office of the Provost (OtP) is responsible for carrying out the academic mission of the University of Oregon (UO). The office works collaboratively with faculty and staff to enhance academic excellence, student success, and the UO’s overall academic profile. Led by the provost and senior vice president, the OtP is a dynamic, caring community of colleagues committed to the core values of integrity, trust, equity, collaboration, and excellence.
The OtP supports and coordinates matters that pertain to faculty success, including hiring, retention, promotion, and tenure processes. We promote the highest standards in teaching, research and service, working closely with the schools and colleges and other critical academic units to promote institutional and personal flourishing. We are responsible for academic financial allocations and the alignment of resources with strategic academic priorities.
In service to the public mission of the UO, the OtP cultivates reciprocal relationships of engagement and outreach with communities at the local, regional, and national levels and across the globe.
The University Career Center serves as the gateway to career services at the University of Oregon, to ensure UO graduates are not only prepared for their first job, but for a lifetime of career success. In conjunction with advising and career services partners across campus, the University Career Center assists UO students in developing long‑term career readiness, facilitating self‑exploration and discovery, and connecting with potential employers.
The Center also provides comprehensive job search services and resources to UO students and alumni.
Position Summary
The Peace Corps Strategic Campus Recruiter will increase awareness of Peace Corps Volunteer opportunities on campus and in the surrounding community. The person in this position will utilize a variety of recruitment tools and activities, including delivering class or club presentations, tabling in public, high‑traffic areas on campus and/or at career fairs, organizing and facilitating application workshops and retention events and by using social media platforms as outreach tools.
The successful candidate will work to identify key stakeholders, perform outreach about the program, and build relationships within this network.
This is a part‑time position at 20 hours per week. Depending on campus activities and recruitment events, evening and weekend hours may be required.
Special requirements to meet conditions of the Peace Corps contract:
- Bachelor’s degree in any discipline
- Returned Peace Corps Volunteer
Minimum Requirements
- Two years of technical or professional‑level experience advising and/or instructing the public concerning specific programs or processes, monitoring programs, or performing participant reviews
Professional Competencies
- Strong familiarity and aptitude with the business applications of social media platforms (Facebook, X, You Tube, Linked In, etc.)
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, particularly public speaking
- Confidence in networking and outreach
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and the ability to see tasks through to completion with minimal supervision
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated event planning, public speaking and partnership‑building experience
- Bachelor’s degree in any discipline
- Returned Peace Corps Volunteer
