Position Summary

The University of Oregon's Special Education and Clinical Sciences (SPECS) Department in the College of Education is seeking qualified applicants for its open pro-tem practicum supervisor pool. The department is accepting applications for supervisors in Early Intervention and SPED K12. Supervisors will provide individual coaching and feedback to students enrolled in Special Education programs during practicum and student teaching experiences. Appointment level varies, based on supervisory load.

Hours vary depending on the schedules of graduate students under supervision; travel to field placement sites around the state of Oregon is required. Positions are limited-duration appointments, potentially renewable for up to a total of three years. Appointments may range from one to three terms per year, including summer.

Travel: Must be able to travel to locations that may not be serviced by public transportation; position requires arrangement of own transportation.

Responsibilities
  • Provide individual coaching and feedback to students enrolled in Special Education programs during practicum and student teaching experiences.
  • Manage supervisory load with flexible appointment levels; coordinate travel to field placement sites around Oregon.
  • Contribute to the college's equity and inclusion goals by applying inclusive practices in teaching and mentoring.
  • Collaborate with department faculty and field supervisors to support program objectives and student success.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in special education/early childhood special education (or closely related discipline) and currently hold, or have held, a teaching license in the appropriate subject area in Oregon or in another state, or Oregon Department of Education Early Childhood Authorization.
  • Three years of teaching experience at the appropriate level and/or content area.
  • Skills and professionalism in written and interpersonal communication.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks independently, follow instructions, attend to details, and adhere to deadlines.
  • Ability to work successfully with diverse populations.
  • Ability to work with diverse students and adhere to University of Oregon policy to support and value diversity.
