Department Summary

The Department of Human Physiology is home to undergraduate and graduate students who desire strong training in human physiology and anatomy that will prepare them for careers in medicine, allied health professions, and biomedical research. The department is strongly committed to inclusive and evidence-based teaching practices. The department has strengths in cardiovascular, respiratory and muscle physiology, neuroscience/motor control, cell signaling and metabolism, and biomechanics.

Human Physiology has strong partnerships with university athletics, the Bioengineering Department, the Phil and Penny Knight Campus for Accelerating Scientific Impact, the Wu Tsai Human Performance Alliance, and is aligned with a new Provost’s initiative on Sport and Wellness.

The Department of Human Physiology is dedicated to building a diverse community that is committed to teaching and working in a multicultural environment. Position Summary

The Department of Human Physiology at the University of Oregon is seeking an innovative career teaching faculty to join a growing nationally‑recognized program that provides flexible curriculum and an engaging learning environment for over 1,000 undergraduate majors who aspire to be professionals in health science fields such as medicine, physical therapy, occupational therapy, nursing, dentistry, pharmacy, education, and research.

The successful candidate will engage in departmental and university service, work effectively with faculty, staff, and students with diverse backgrounds, participate in student advising, and be a leader in evidence‑based pedagogy for the Department of Human Physiology. Specific teaching needs include undergraduate instruction in upper‑level courses in Human Anatomy, Physiology, Motor Control, and Biomechanics.
