Job Description

Position is responsible for creating a classroom environment that fosters, promotes and develops an understanding of the relationship of healthy body function and exercise; that motivates each student to cultivate physical fitness; that discovers and develops talents of students in physical achievement; and that develops strength, skill, agility, poise, and coordination in individual, dual and team physical activities and sports.

• Demonstrate motivation and enthusiasm with a genuine passion for teaching all learners.
• Demonstrate the ability to create a student-centered classroom.
• Facilitates student's physical, cognitive and social and emotional learning through lessons designed to sequentially develop skills appropriate to their ability and confidence levels.
• Provides engaging, fun, and effective instruction that helps build a health and wellness foundation for students.
• Teaches knowledge and skills in physical fitness using the Oregon Core Standards.
• Implements Oregon Core Standards with rigor, purpose, and planning.
• Provides maximum participation for all students; differentiates as needed to ensure all students experience success.
• Analyzes, demonstrates, and explains basic skills, knowledge and strategies of games, rhythms, and fundamentals of body movement.
• Develops engaging and effective lesson plans and supplementary materials.
• Provides ongoing formative feedback to students.
• Provides appropriate safety instruction and makes safety checks on equipment and field areas to ensure the overall safety of students.
• Evaluates academic and social growth of students and keeps appropriate records to include report cards, attendance records, checklists, and other recordkeeping activities.
• Communicates with parents, school counselors and administrator on student progress.
