Position PurposeProvide high‑quality instruction in Cell Biology and/or Anatomy and Physiology courses, ensuring learning aims and outcomes are met. Serve as teacher of record and facilitator of learning.
Essential Functions (Responsibilities)- Teach Cell Biology (BI 112) and/or Anatomy & Physiology (BI 231‑233) courses as assigned.
- Engage in curriculum development and revisions with colleagues.
- Maintain compliance with college policies, attendance, grading, textbook ordering, timesheet and release time.
- Sustain currency in the discipline and innovative teaching practices.
- Participate collegially in the faculty performance evaluation process.
- Maintain office hours and campus presence for student support.
- Ensure a safe, quality classroom or lab environment, including equipment and inventory management.
- Manage student records, attendance, grades; maintain FERPA confidentiality.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Provide high‑quality classroom instruction and develop/revise course materials.
- Establish learning outcomes, assess outcomes, and use data to inform improvements.
- Incorporate college values, promote a respectful learning environment.
- Develop and deliver syllabi and materials in forms suitable for in‑person and online delivery.
- Confer with students and support their progress.
- Engage in the online course environment with Regular and Substantive Interaction (RSI).
- Monitor progress, coach struggling students, grade assignments and give timely feedback.
- Ensure materials comply with technology, accessibility and applicable laws.
- Use effective online teaching strategies.
- Demonstrate commitment to social justice and inclusion; respect cultural and personal differences.
- Assist with ADA compliance and provide access for students with disabilities.
- Apply inclusive policies in all responsibilities.

Education:
Master’s degree in biology or a closely related discipline from a regionally accredited institution. - Conditions of Employment:
- Complete criminal background check.
- Must work and reside in Oregon at the time of employment.
- Teaching experience with community college students.
- Experience in online/distance learning.
- Experience using inclusive classroom practices.
- Knowledge of teaching Cell Biology/Anatomy & Physiology to lower‑division college students.
- Understanding of student learning difficulties, teaching methods, and technology uses.
- Ability to integrate curriculum elements, manage LMS, design assessments.
- Ability to collaborate and coordinate with faculty.
- Commitment to student success, lifelong learning, and institutional missions.
