Position Overview
Central Lane 911 is recruiting 911 Call‑Taker/Dispatcher. Candidates will respond to emergency and non‑emergency calls, call‑take, dispatch, and provide customer service. Full cross‑training into Communications Specialist 2 is required.
Location & ScheduleCentral Lane 911 Communications Center, 1735 W 2nd Ave., Eugene, OR 97402. 24/7 work with four 10‑hour shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays.
CompensationCommunications Specialist 1: $28.31–$31.23 hourly.
Communications Specialist 2: $31.23–$39.88 hourly. Up to 20% premium pay after 3 years. Bilingual pay up to 5%.
- Operate computers, radio/telephone equipment.
- Answer 911 and non‑emergency calls.
- Determine call type, response, and responsible agency.
- Assess jurisdiction, deploy equipment, personnel.
- Transmitt information to dispatcher or responsible jurisdiction.
- Maintain knowledge of streets, landmarks, Lane County geography.
- Dispatch and monitor emergency public safety activities.
- One year in a fast‑paced environment with data entry.
- High School diploma or GED.
- Available to obtain CPR, EMD, and Basic Telecommunicator Certificate (DPSST) within 18 months.
- Must pass police background investigation, psychological evaluation, physical assessment, and drug test.
Physical Requirements
Police background investigation, no felony convictions, no Class A misdemeanor within 24 months. Must pass psychological evaluation, physical assessment, drug test, hearing and vision tests as required by DPSST.
