Bethel School District is seeking qualified applicants for a temporary Desktop Support Technician for the District. This position will start January 2, 2026 and end on June 30, 2026.

Nature of Work

A Desktop Support Technician is assigned to serve multiple schools and departments to assist the Senior Network Technician and Network Technician with supporting Bethel’s desktop computers, peripherals, productivity software and basic network connectivity including but not limited to:
- Installing desktop computers, software and peripherals
- Servicing, updating and troubleshooting desktop computers, software and peripherals
- Establishing and troubleshooting basic network connectivity
Installing desktop computers, software and peripherals and troubleshooting problems requires manual dexterity and good visual acuity. The employee may coordinate activities and assist other staff providing technical support at other Bethel locations. Physical strength and agility are required to lift computer equipment and to bend, stoop and work in confined spaces. Position may require the ability to work occasional evenings and weekends.
Supports desktop users through basic training, troubleshooting problems, suggesting solutions for increased efficiencies when appropriate and providing day-to-day technical assistance.
Knowledge,
Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of computer technology principles and capabilities with emphasis on the technical support of desktop computers and peripherals including network printers; skill in installation, updating and troubleshooting productivity and Windows operating system software; ability to troubleshoot and restore functionality after system failure; ability to write documentation for system installations, configuration changes and performed services; ability to understand and follow instructions in program documentation and manufacturers technical manuals;
ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; ability to convey and exchange technical information with other staff and technical experts; ability to learn and use varied microcomputer application software including MS Office; ability to analyze computer errors and troubleshoot problems; ability to organize own work and coordinate with others; ability to solve problems; ability to meet project deadlines; ability to bend, stoop and work in confined spaces;
ability to lift computer equipment weighing up to 25 pounds; ability to work safely.
Minimum Qualifications
Two (2) years of related computer applications experience including direct end-user hardware and software support. Working familiarity with Windows operating systems from Windows 2000 to current release; experience with Windows 2003 Server is a plus. Equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered qualifying.
Upon offer of employment, applicants must obtain fingerprint clearance from the Oregon Department of Education through a process authorized by the Bethel School District. Applicants are responsible for the one-time fingerprint clearance fee.
