This position assists the CSPD Director in planning, organizing, managing and directing the activities over four Sterile Processing units located in KPV, DCH, CHH2, and MPV GI Endoscopy. The position is responsible for monitoring and maintaining compliance in sterilization and high‑level disinfection standards across the organization and for establishing effective relationships with perioperative leadership and external agencies to drive continuous improvement.
ResponsibilitiesHuman Resources Management
- Collaborates with the CSPD leadership team and Human Resources to recruit and retain staff.
- Oversees staff education and training to maintain competency.
- Manages human resources according to hospital policies, labor laws, and collective bargaining contract.
- Assists performance appraisals, progressive discipline, and grievance resolution.
- Resolves work‑related issues such as attendance, performance, interpersonal conflicts, schedules, and workloads.
- Ensures completion of mandatory education, continuing education, certifications, and regulatory requirements.
- Acts as a professional role model and mentor, supporting change management.
- Supports staff professional growth and development.
- Assists the CSPD Director in planning, growth, and expansion of the department.
- Collaborates with other managers to schedule and allocate staffing across the four CSPD sites.
- Partner with perioperative managers to provide unified leadership for day‑to‑day operations.
- Participates as a leader in management meetings, committees, and organization meetings.
- Creates a positive climate for organizational change initiatives.
- Adheres to OHSU mission, vision, philosophy, and Code of Conduct.
- Communicates respectfully to foster intra‑ and inter‑departmental cooperation.
- Ensures compliance with OHSU Code of Conduct, policies, and regulations.
- Implements core competencies and aligns performance with OHSU Mission Statement.
- Supports the CSPD Director in developing and monitoring the departmental operating budget.
- Monitors budget variances and reports to meet expectations.
- Identifies, requests, and utilizes resources (space, capital equipment, personnel) in a fiscally sound manner.
- Develops staffing plans and requests space within budget expectations.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and sterile processing experience.
- Certification as CRCST (HSPA) or CSPDT (CBSPD).
- Minimum of five years in a supervisory or lead role in sterile processing.

- Certification in Healthcare Leadership (CHL).
- Certification in Instrument Specialist (CIS).
- Certification in Endoscope Reprocessing (CFER/CER).
This position will supervise the CSPD day‑shift staff and requires flexibility in working hours that may extend more than eight hours a day or 40 hours a week as needed.
