Job Type: Full Time, Onsite.
Schedule:
Sunday night - Friday morning, Graveyard Shift, with limited after hours and weekends as required.
Starting Wage: $20.25 - $30.05, plus $2.00 Graveyard shift differential, depending on experience.
Farwest Steel’s production department seeks a knowledgeable and dependable individual to join their team as Equipment Operator II. In this role, you will operate a High-Definition Plasma table at maximum machine efficiency to generate the highest part quality. You will also be responsible for general machine preventative maintenance while adhering to safety protocols and industry best practices within the steel service sector.
As a condition of employment, all applicants are required to pass a pre‑employment drug screen and background check. Farwest adheres to federal regulations in regard to drug testing, including THC. Pre‑employment drug screen and background check must be completed, post offer of employment. Farwest participates in E‑Verify and confirms each candidate’s eligibility to legally work in the United States.
Key Responsibilities- Operate High‑Definition cutting equipment to maintain optimal machine uptime and part quality.
- Communicate effectively with crane operators, machine operators, and parts processors to streamline production and reduce downtime.
- Review and verify batch tickets, work instructions, material specifications, part numbers, revisions, thickness, and grade before cutting.
- Verify heat numbers against certifications and follow proper documentation procedures.
- Perform first article inspections to confirm correct thickness, measurements, and cut quality.
- Properly mark remnants for restocking, including color code, heat number, thickness, and REM number.
- Monitor operations to reduce cost by minimizing material waste, maximizing machine time, and ensuring proper equipment usage.
- Enforce and adhere to all company safety protocols and industry standards.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience with metal burning or plasma cutting.
- Proven ability to complete tasks accurately and efficiently in a fast‑paced environment.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment in line with OSHA and company safety policies.
- Experience working as part of a team in a metal processing or manufacturing environment.
- Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions, including performing basic mathematical calculations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to contribute positively to a team‑oriented workplace.
