2025 Lead Elder Job Description and Church Profile Role and Job Description

The Lead Pastor (LP) is responsible for equipping the members of Gospel Community Church. Equipping is done through preaching gospel-centered sermons, praying, shepherding, developing leaders, and articulating a clear plan to guide the church’s mission and vision. The lead pastor reports to the elder team.

Church Overview

Gospel Community Church (GCC) celebrated its 10th anniversary in October as an Acts 29 Network church plant in Eugene, Oregon. GCC exists to make Jesus the hero and our vision is to see Oregon saturated with gospel-centered churches. We do that by being intentional in the way we preach (expositional), equip (community groups, classes) and worship. GCC’s preaching/teaching is primarily expositional from a Reformed theological tradition, with a consistent focus on the Gospel of Jesus Christ as seen throughout the Bible from Genesis to Revelation and how it is relevant to all of life.

GCC is a vibrant, growing multi-generational, complementarian community of believers, consisting of many young families (with over 50 infants and children). 150-200 people attend on any given Sunday and dozens gather weekly at Gospel Community Groups hosted in homes across Eugene/Springfield. GCC is elder-led congregationalist and has ~75 covenant members.

In 2026, our current lead pastor will be launching a church plant in Roseburg, Oregon, about an hour south of Eugene. We are sending out our current pastor, and prayerfully seek a new lead pastor to shepherd our community of believers here at GCC.

Core Values
  • Gospel Centrality – preaching/teaching/discipling through the lens of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, applying the Gospel to every area of life.
  • Community – sharing in each other’s lives through small groups, events, and real life.
  • Mission – we are all “on mission” to share the gospel in word and deed, transforming our neighborhoods, communities, and our city through Christ.
  • Transparency – we are not perfect and hope that our vulnerability will create a place where people feel safe to be transparent, knowing that we all need the perfection of Christ.
  • Joy – we are serious about the gospel of Jesus Christ, but not about ourselves. We exhibit joy because we have something greater than circumstances, finances, careers and trials that give us our identity and hope – Jesus!
