Position Summary

The Postdoctoral Scholar will be responsible for conducting research and technical activities related to sponsored projects in Dr. Ong’s lab. The incumbent will conduct research related to the inductive-capacitive sensors used for monitoring suture tension during and after orthopedic surgeries, and magnetoelastic sensors for cell and tissue monitoring. They will also perform data analysis and collaborate on research projects and report findings and discoveries in written and verbal form;

they will mentor junior trainees in the lab; and will manage, maintain and provide technical expertise for lab equipment, protocols, and programs.

Minimum Requirements
  • PhD in Electrical, Mechanical, Biomedical Engineering, Human Physiology, Immunology, or other relevant fields
Professional Competencies
  • Effective communication skills
  • Organization and time management skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in wireless sensor technologies such as RFID sensors, inductive-capacitive resonance sensors, or magnetoelastic sensors
  • Experience in wireless communication protocols such as Bluetooth Low Energy
  • Experience in electronic circuit design and fabrication and embedded programming
  • Experience in cell and tissue culture experiments
  • Experience in experiments with animal or human models
