ALL ABOUT GENERAL MERCHANDISE
Experts of store process and efficiency who enable a consistent experience for our guests by ensuring product is set, in-stock, accurately priced and signed on the sales floor. The General Merchandise and Food Sales team leads inbound, outbound, replenishment, and promotional signing processes for all General Merchandise (GM) areas of the store. This team conducts inventory accuracy, merchandise set-up and maintenance and pricing processes for all areas of the store.

Experts enable efficient delivery to our guests by supporting pick, pack and ship fulfillment work.

  • Knowledge of guest service fundamentals and experience supporting a guest-first culture across the store
  • Experience in retail business fundamentals including department sales trends, inventory replenishment, and process efficiency and improvement
  • Experience executing daily/weekly workload to support business priorities and deliver on sales goals

As a General Merchandise Expert, a typical day will likely include the following responsibilities:

  • Create a welcoming experience by greeting guests as you are completing your daily tasks.
  • Engage with guests to help solve their specific needs and provide assistance as needed.
  • Thank guests and let them know we’re happy they chose to shop at Target.
  • Execute daily tasks assigned by your leader to help achieve goals aligned with business priorities, including receiving products, restocking shelves, organizing the backroom, arranging merchandise, and putting up promotional signs for GM areas.
  • If certified, operate power equipment to move merchandise or store fixtures.
  • Execute processes including changing prices, merchandise set-up and maintenance, and inventory accuracy as directed by your leader for all areas.
  • Learn how operational procedures affect inventory management, store profitability, and product availability.
  • Be knowledgeable about resources, products, and services available in the total store and in your area to solve issues for the guest and improve their experience.
  • Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety and compliance.
  • Work safely at all times; comply with safety policies, best practices, and training; report hazards and correct where possible.
  • Support guest services such as back-up cashier and digital fulfillment processes (picking, packing, and delivering pickup orders) and maintain compliance with laws.
  • All other duties based on business needs.
