Retail Security Officer –

Valley River Center. Provide security detail as outlined in the post orders and establish working relationships with customers, local law enforcement, and fire departments. Security personnel will perform job duties with constant awareness of surroundings, note all activity in the assigned area, maintain a professional image, and demonstrate excellent customer service.

• Control of entrances and movement of pedestrian and vehicle traffic.
• Patrol buildings and perimeters.
• Escort material and personnel.
• Inspection of security and fire exposures.
• Special assignments.

• Be on time and report to post in full uniform.
• Maintain a professional image, greeting customers, visitors, and employees politely.
• Be proactive in knowing all revisions to post orders and general information distributed by the customer and AFS.
• Patrol physical property or keep a fixed post position, reporting suspicious activity and investigating accidents and criminal acts.
• Monitor cameras or equipment continuously as outlined in post orders.
• Maintain a working knowledge of all emergency policies, procedures, and regulations to respond to alarms, incidents, and emergency situations.
• Complete daily activity reports, log book entries, incident reports, and all relevant reports related to the job assignment.
• Make recommendations to management on better safety and loss prevention processes identified during daily routine.
• Have knowledge of life safety systems, fire panels, CCTV systems, elevator and access door operations, and the authorized contractors responsible for maintenance.
• Ensure training and compliance guidelines are met as outlined by AFS and other regulating agencies.
• Communicate daily with Security Supervisor about new security issues or changes requiring consideration or implementation.

• High School Diploma and/or equivalent (GED).
• Willingness to submit to a background and drug screen; employment contingent upon successful completion.
• Minimum 3–6 months prior experience in loss prevention, life safety, CCTV systems, or access computer systems.
• State Guard license required.
