Our Facilities Department of Eugene, OR is hiring a full‑time Maintenance Technician. This role involves the repair and upkeep of all Shelter Care facilities, including apartments and houses. Tasks include interior and exterior painting, drywall, dry‑rot repair, door framing, window installation, floor repair (underlayment, tile, carpet, vinyl), minor plumbing (drain cleaning, toilet clearing, hot water tank, faucet, shower valve replacement), mechanical repairs (cleanup and servicing of exhaust fans, dryer ducts and vents, furnaces, filters), outlet, switch and GFI replacement, fixture replacement, heater rebuilding, thermostat servicing, bulb and ballast changes.

The Maintenance Technician is a non‑exempt, hourly position with a starting wage of $20.33 – $22.00 per hour depending on experience and qualifications. Team orientation and consistent attendance are essential. After training, technicians join the emergency on‑call schedule.
On‑call compensation:
For a seven‑day on‑call shift, the worker receives $75 for each weekday and $125 for each weekend day, totaling $200 for the full week.
Technicians will interact with Shelter Care clients daily. Clients often have histories of homelessness and/or serious mental illness.

QualificationsRequired
- Aptitude for learning quickly
- Ability to work on ladders, scaffolding, lifts, etc.
- Capacity to lift, push and pull up to 50 lbs for extended periods
- Knowledge of fencing, concrete work, furniture refinishing and preventative maintenance
- Availability for weekly on‑call schedule
- Capability to drive agency vehicles
- Successful completion of a DHS background check
- Experience working with individuals diagnosed with serious mental illness
