Building Operations and Maintenance includes Maintenance Support, Carpentry, Building Automation Systems (BAS), Electrical, Painting, Plumbing, Mechanical, Lock and Door, and Fleet Services. These teams handle the maintenance, repair, and minor renovation of university buildings, vehicles, and equipment at the Eugene and Portland campuses. Their work ensures that the University of Oregon community has a safe, efficient, reliable, functional, and attractive learning environment, supporting the University’s mission and vision.

The purpose of the Building Automation Systems Control Technician position is to service, repair, maintain, plan, and execute upgrades to the Building Automation Direct Digital Controls (DDC) and Energy Management Systems (BAS/EMS). Duties also include operation, maintenance, and repair of the associated heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and mechanical systems that serve campus buildings at the University of Oregon.
Interactions with other maintenance staff, as well as the campus community, occur daily in the course of performing routine work and responding to emergencies. Position works as a member of a team while frequently performing tasks independently. Decisions may be made about the best method and materials necessary to perform a particular task. Decision making typically includes setting priorities, assessing customer needs, and responding to those needs.
Work is reviewed regularly by the Building Automation Systems Supervisor to ensure it is performed efficiently, safely, and meets both expectations and applicable requirements. A performance appraisal is conducted annually.
Driver’s Certification:
It is an essential requirement of this position to qualify for and maintain UO driver's certification eligibility, which includes maintaining an Oregon driver’s license throughout employment in this position.
