Backend Developer

Our technology stack is growing faster than our team, so Slack is bringing on a Backend Developer to keep the architecture honest. Where most technology jobs cap your reach, this Slack one in Eugene pays $81,000 - $116,000 and widens it the longer you stay.

• Pair Google Cloud and MySQL in a pipeline Slack can extend without your help later
• Shave milliseconds off the technology hot path that Slack users feel every click
• Own a technology service end to end, from Git Hub Actions schema to on-call rotation
• Build the people-first Professionalism feature that wins back the OR accounts Slack lost
• Pair with technology analysts so Slack's Redis models match real behavior
• Lead the Python migration that finally retires Slack's experiment-friendly legacy stack
• Wire up Redis feature flags so Slack can test on Eugene traffic risk-free
• Ship Google Cloud fixes to Slack customers in Eugene, OR the same day they report them

• Mid-level mastery of Attention Management, validated by people who'd hire you again
• Demonstrated calm when an Eugene, OR client changes scope mid-stream
• Comfort owning technology decisions in an OR market
• Experience thriving in a relentlessly curious, deadline-driven setting like Slack
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Long before technology was fashionable, Slack was already solving it for businesses scattered across OR. Every quietly-ambitious idea gets a fair hearing at Slack, no matter the 3 of experience behind it.

We trade fair $81,000 - $116,000 for your talent and throw in mentorship, benefits, and a flexibility policy people actually use.

Just re-listed with today's date, the technology role is fully active.
