BACKGROUND

Cascadia Mobility is an independent Oregon public benefit 501(c)(3) professional shared and active transportation operations nonprofit. We manage Peace Health Rides and furnish bicycle education and event services, like Smart Cycling courses, bicycle valet, group rides, and K-12 "bike buses." We are growing our team as our scope broadens.

ELIGIBILITY & AVAILABILITY

Applicants must be available for at least 2-4 regularly-scheduled days, including at least one weekend day.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY

The Operations team is nimble and tight-knit. You’ll first use web-based map and data tools to make a list of rentable vehicles that need attention. Based on your list, you’ll build a route and select one of our ops vehicles—van, e-trike, and e-bike—to complete your route.

Though no formal experience is required, mechanical aptitude, way finding, and computer literacy are strongly preferred. Our training program will cumulatively and comprehensively build your skill and confidence in mechanical service, hardware, and software.

Cascadia Mobility is a growing, dynamic organization; successful candidates will be team players with personal initiative and a positive attitude. Our operations team supports all facets of the company. During fair-weather months, team members may be asked to fill valet/event shifts as needs dictate.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

Operations Technicians work with each other and our customer service team to ensure clean, functional vehicles are in the right places at the right times.

  • Follow our best practices safely, consistently, and efficiently.
  • Use digital tools to evaluate system health to self-assign and prioritize tasks.
  • Operate motor- and light-electric vehicles in dense urban environments.
  • Support Marketing and Programs events with logistics and customer service as needed.
  • Load and unload vehicles for distribution or “rebalancing.”
  • Inspect and evaluate rental vehicles and hardware for safety, function, and cleanliness, and file reports accordingly.
  • Reboot and troubleshoot hardware.
  • Respond to customer service tickets and management priorities in real-time.
  • Communicate effectively with other team members to share work.
  • Perform standard removal and replacement of parts at the end of their service life.
  • Receive and track inventory as it is consumed.
  • Create and maintain a clean and sanitary workplace.
  • Attend weekly team meetings, or make time to closely review meeting notes.
  • Objectively report variations from standard procedure.
  • Deeply familiarize yourself with our services and share information with customers.
  • Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Available at least one weekend day.
  • Clear, positive written and verbal communication skills.
  • Respect for customer confidentiality.
  • Able to function both autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Can lift up to 65 pounds, bend and stand for long periods of time.
  • Open to others' ideas and a willingness to try new things.
  • Follow company best practices.
  • Prioritize safety for yourself and team members above all else.
  • Eager and able to work outdoors year-round, rain or shine.

Preferred:

  • Age 25+, and good driving record (non-driving roles are available)
  • Comfortable driving a large motor vehicle.
  • Strong knowledge of city geography and street layout.
COMPENSATION

Wage adjustments within the role in proportion to skill and experience (see wage bracket at right).
