Part-Time Airline Ramp/Customer Service Agent

Job Summary

This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement and requires compliance with WFS site security procedures for assigned warehouse and other operations. You will maintain a satisfactory quantity and quality of work by assigned personnel, explaining and demonstrating work procedures and methods including safety, apportioning and scheduling assigned work. Your responsibilities include observing and analyzing methods used, reporting problems to management, and assisting in utilization of tools, equipment, and materials.

You will remain cognizant of WFS staff, security contractors, and visitors’ activities and report security breaches, suspicious occurrences, or non‑compliance with the site security plan to managers or via the WFS whistle blower program.

Responsibilities
  • Ramp Operations:
    • Load & unload aircraft cargo weighing up to 70 lbs. in and out of aircraft within confined cargo areas, push, pull, and position.
    • Drive vehicles with gross weights of 3,000 to 80,000 lbs. in congested areas, moving and stationary vehicles and equipment, and position vehicles up to aircraft requiring depth perception and the ability to distinguish colors (red, green, and yellow).
    • Engage in push‑out of aircraft by driving an 80,000‑lb. vehicle or assist by providing guide function to driver using depth perception in congested areas or speaking to cockpit during push‑back procedure.
    • Transport cargo to & from aircraft by driving a 3,000‑lb. vehicle using depth perception to negotiate vehicle with attached carts through congested area; read "off‑load" sheets to determine destination of cargo.
    • While performing aircraft push‑out &/or towing functions, engage in proper ground‑to‑cockpit communication via hand signals & voice commands with or without the assistance of sight or visual aids.
    • Pull, push, and lift bags weighing up to 70 lbs. onto or from a conveyor belt.
    • Pull water hose from stationary cabinet and connect to aircraft.
    • Lift, connect overhead & remove overhead, 40‑lb. KVA electric cable to/from aircraft.
    • De‑ice aircraft at heights of up to 20–80 ft., lifting & holding nose, spraying exterior of wings and fuselage with glycol.
  • Passenger Service:
    • Make reservations, prepare & issue tickets & itineraries, compute fares, issue refunds, check baggage, and collect excess baggage charges.
    • Provide passengers with general travel information; meet aircraft at gate or loading area and perform duties in departure lounges or at boarding gates when en‑planning & de‑planning passengers.
    • Check passenger ticket for validity and lift appropriate coupon; complete all necessary arrangements for accommodating passengers holding reservations, standbys & their luggage.
    • Determine flight close‑out time and prepare, complete & check various flight forms for accuracy; invalidate tickets & complete post‑departure procedures.
    • Perform lost & found activities.
Minimum Requirements
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Must join the Transport Workers Union (TWU) and pay union dues as required by the collective bargaining agreement.
Preferred Skills
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently.
