The wholesale fertilizer order picker is responsible for picking finished pallets of Down To Earth Fertilizers as well as individual boxes and bags of finished fertilizer productions. These orders are picked for Down To Earth Fertilizer’s distributor partners as well as Down To Earth Distributors customers and our retail store. The wholesale fertilizer order picker is our first defense and a critical link to ensuring an accurate and properly billed shipment, resulting in a satisfied customer.

• Check picking list accuracy against actual products picked, correcting discrepancies and updating the picking list and packing list.
• Follow picking instructions on the picking slip, packing orders according to DTE packing instructions and guidelines, and adapting to different shipping methods (DTE Trucks, Fed Ex/UPS, LTL, Air, or customer pickup).
• Prepare shipping papers for the proper shipping method for each order.
• Maintain work area cleanliness, ensuring the warehouse stays clean at the end of each work day.
• Coordinate with receivers, checking the freight arrivals blackboard and product arrivals to avoid backordered items and assisting receivers in unloading shipments as needed.
• Participate in the bi‑annual inventory process, available for inventory in June and December.
• Assist with truck/container unloading and loading when required.
• Work Monday‑Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, with a 30‑minute unpaid lunch and two 15‑minute paid breaks.
• Demonstrate a willingness to contribute beyond the core job description as needed.

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Basic math and reading/writing skills in English.
• Ability to read and understand picking lists and written instructions, verifying quantities and product accuracy.
• Strong teamwork skills, working well in a team‑like environment.
• Complete knowledge of the Down To Earth Fertilizer product line and ability to identify irregularities in customer orders.

This is a physical job requiring standing for long periods, good mobility, and the ability to lift fertilizer bags and boxes up to 50 pounds. Operation of manual hand trucks and hydraulic pallet jacks will be required; training will be provided.

The work is performed in a warehouse that is neither heated nor air‑conditioned. Employees should dress appropriately and expect work clothes to become soiled due to dusty and dirty product.
