Role Overview

The Warehouse and Inventory Lead oversees all warehouse, shipping, and inventory control functions to ensure materials and finished goods are received, stored, and distributed accurately, efficiently, and safely. This role leads warehouse personnel in maintaining optimal inventory accuracy, supports continuous improvement of warehouse operations, and coordinates closely with the Cutting Team Lead to resolve raw material inventory issues and determine root causes of discrepancies.

This position is assigned to Crew Boss, a member of the Western Protective Solutions family located in Eugene, Oregon and reports directly to the Operations Manager.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain inventory by identifying, labeling, and placing materials and supplies into the warehouse, accurately recording locations in the ERP system.
  • Oversee the cycle counting process for “A,” “B,” and “C” materials to maintain accuracy and accountability.
  • Supervise receiving of inbound materials and ensure timely and accurate disposition to orders or storage locations.
  • Oversee outbound shipments, ensuring timeliness, accuracy, and compliance with customer and carrier requirements.
  • Prepare and process all international shipping documentation accurately and on time.
  • Prepare hazardous material shipments in compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Ensure all inventory transactions are updated in the ERP system in a timely manner.
  • Manage warehouse organization, ensuring products are stored, picked, and staged efficiently.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment that meets company and regulatory safety standards.
  • Assist in preparing finished stock for shipment by identifying, pulling, packing, crating, loading, and securing product.
  • Perform root cause analysis for inventory discrepancies by reviewing finished goods, product output, input, and staging areas.
  • Conduct regular physical inventory counts and reconcile differences.
  • Coordinate with the Cutting Team Lead to resolve raw materials inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with R&D to correct Bill of Materials (BOM) and Work Ticket (W/T) issues.
  • Maintain responsibility for the Warehouse Maintenance Log, including forklift inspections, cleaning, and general upkeep.
  • Ensure tools and equipment are properly returned, cleaned, and maintained after each use; remove damaged or worn items from service as necessary.
  • Enforce quality and safety control standards throughout the warehouse.
  • Coordinate and provide training for new warehouse employees.
  • Lead by example to promote teamwork, productivity, and accountability.
  • Assign tasks and provide clear, specific directions and procedures to warehouse staff.
  • Oversee and support warehouse activities across multiple locations as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

  • Ability to be proactive, recognize potential issues and bottlenecks and take appropriate action to resolve.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds of material without assistance. Ability to lift over 50 pounds with assistance from others.
  • Ability to bend and stand for long periods of time.
  • Visual acuity to read instructions, operate machines, and inspect parts produced.
  • Ability to operate equipment including: forklift, pallet jack, banding equipment and office equipment such as computer, scanner, phone, fax, and copy machine.
Additional Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required; additional education or certification in logistics or supply chain preferred.
  • 3+ years of warehouse and inventory control experience, including prior lead or supervisory experience.
  • Strong understanding of ERP systems and inventory management processes.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
  • Knowledge of shipping documentation, including international and hazardous material compliance.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team while maintaining focus on safety, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Forklift certification preferred.
  • Ability to work at or travel to a secondary warehouse location as needed.
