Industrial Maintenance Mechanic- 2nd Shift
Base pay range: $27.00/hr - $31.00/hr
This position maintains production and quality by ensuring operation of machinery and mechanical equipment. Electrical knowledge is required. The position requires working under the supervision of the maintenance supervisor. Must be able to demonstrate the ability to repair, troubleshoot and upgrade a variety of industrial machines and equipment in our steel manufacturing facility. The incumbent is responsible for completing maintenance service and repairs of plant equipment, machinery, etc.
The role is also responsible for maintaining buildings and plant facilities in a clean, orderly and working condition, in addition to building a positive working relationship across other departments with a main focus on production.
- High School Diploma or GED, plus 4-6 years of progressive related work experience
- An active Journeyman license and maintains for continued employment
- Knowledge of industrial maintenance
- Knowledge of equipment maintenance and technical understanding
- Knowledge and understanding of Lock Out/Tag Out procedures and requirements
- Knowledge of Safety Rules and Procedures
- Knowledge of equipment maintenance and technical understanding
- Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing and carpentry
- Must be a self-starter with excellent organizational skills
- Must be able to follow deadlines and work under pressure
- Must be able to manage deadlines with conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Must have ability to read, write and speak English
- Skill in use of power tools
- Skill in effective communication
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Successfully pass an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic test, a background check (including criminal history, drug screen, physical, audiogram and vision test)
- Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, electrical schematics, hydraulic schematic, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions
- Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments
- Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts
- Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers and other measuring instruments
- Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs and straightedges
- Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance
- Maintains equipment, parts and supplies
- Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results
- Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests
- Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities and continuing needs
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
- Maximum shop exposure
- Requires walking, sitting or standing to a significant degree and lifting up to 50 pounds
- Incidental exposure to seasonal weather conditions
- Employee must wear proper Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) at all times
- Travel between the plants may be required
- Perform work standing up for 8-10 hours per day and up to 6 days a week
- Good vision, hearing, smell and balance required
- Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 lbs
- Ability to stand, bend, stoop, kneel or squat regularly and climb stairs and ladders
- Exposure to shop hazards possible
Shift time:
Monday - Friday with occasional work on Saturdays from 3:30 PM - 2:30 AM
