Job Description

The Radiologic Technologist (RT) works with Medical Providers and/or Medical Assistants with the examination and treatment of Mercy-GoHealth Urgent Care patients. This role is responsible for providing a variety of technical procedures and applying prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis for our Mercy-GoHealth Urgent Care patients. The RT performs and analyzes patient x-rays and reports results to Medical Providers. Additional responsibilities include providing administrative support to ensure efficient operation of Mercy-GoHealth Urgent Care Centers and supporting Medical Providers, Medical Assistants and patients through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization and communication.

Job Requirements Education
  • High School Diploma required
  • Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technologist program required
Work Experience
  • Experience in a clinical setting preferred
Required Licenses/Certifications
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required at the time of hire, obtained through the American Red Cross (ARC) or American Heart Association (AHA).
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration required at time of hire.
  • State licensure as a Radiologic Technologist is required at the time of hire (if applicable by state law).
Essential Functions
  • Responsible for x-ray services as needed.
  • Under the direction of the clinical provider, perform x-ray services for patients by applying x-ray energy to assist in diagnosis or treatment of patients in all age groups from newborn to elderly.
  • Ensure patients are positioned correctly on or in front of equipment and protected during use.
  • May need to push patient in a wheelchair.
Patient Preparation and Rooming
  • Inform technical staff of patient flow.
  • Prepare patients for examination, which includes conducting interviews to verify patient information, record medical history, confirm purpose of visit.
  • Perform preliminary physical test (blood pressure, weight, temperature, etc.) for vital signs and elevate critical cases to provider as needed.
  • Conduct point of care testing as needed (i.e., flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG) and provide patient information to provider.
Administrative
  • Responsible for maintenance of medical records and scanning charts to patient files.
  • Conduct courtesy call-backs for patient follow-up on care.
  • Follow operating instructions to perform and document daily controls and calibration of equipment; maintain Quality Assurance/Quality Control logs for equipment troubleshoot breakdowns, perform preventive maintenance, and submit repair tickets as needed.
Other Responsibilities

    Collaborate with the ordering/treating Provider to determine which procedures or views will best assist in accurate diagnoses and treatment. Support clinic operations to keep the center running smoothly.
