Med/Surg Career Path - RN Pathway to Specialty Practice

Full-time & Part-time | Day-shift & Night-shift

Our Nursing Career Path Program empowers both new and experienced RNs to build a solid clinical foundation in the Med/Surg service line before transitioning into a specialty unit of your choice. With hands-on learning, mentorship, and professional growth at every step, you’ll start your nursing career with confidence!

As a vital member of our team, you will:

• Perform direct patient care activities for all age groups, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Monitor and coordinate patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize patient comfort.
• Function within the scope of nursing preparation and adhere to established guidelines of nursing practice.
• Uphold the mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards in all duties.

Start in Med/Surg Service Line Departments:

• Observation Tele
• Med-Surg
• Neuroscience
• Neurosurgical
• Oncology
• Orthopedics
• Trauma Surgical

Eligible to Transfer to a Specialty Department in 12–18 Months:

• NICU
• Labor & Delivery
• Pediatrics / PICU
• Med/Surg ICU
• Trauma/Neuro ICU
• CVICU
• ED
• Burn ICU
• Behavioral Health
• Float Pool
• Women & Children’s

To thrive in this role, you should have:

• Education: Nursing degree from an accredited school
• License: Active RN license in the state
• Certifications: Current BLS (American Heart Association)
