Literacy Interventionist; Part-Time

LITERACY INTERVENTIONIST (PART-TIME) – Alabama State Department of Education. This role supports students in Grades 4-8 exhibiting reading deficiencies through the school’s adopted intervention curricula, delivering prescriptive, explicit, systematic, structured, multi-sensory language instruction, and using progress monitoring to guide instruction. The position aligns with the 2019 Alabama Literacy Act, with emphasis on expanding supports beyond kindergarten to 3rd grade to improve reading outcomes and long-term opportunities.

• Deliver prescriptive, explicit, systematic, structured, multi-sensory language instruction to students requiring dyslexia-specific intervention at least four days per week in small groups for 45 to 60 minutes daily
• Analyze and utilize screening, diagnostic, and progress-monitoring data to provide targeted intervention
• Participate in ongoing professional learning in dyslexia-specific interventions to support struggling readers
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents; maintain strong organizational and interpersonal skills
• Collaborate with the literacy coach and content teachers to ensure consistency in reading strategies used in intervention and the classroom
• Monitor reading progress of students receiving intervention and adjust instruction based on progress data
• Communicate effectively orally and in writing
• Demonstrate strong computer skills to implement programs in person or online and to analyze data

• Alabama teaching certificate;
  Master’s degree preferred
• Three years’ successful experience as a reading, literacy, or instructional coach/specialist, reading interventionist, and/or as a highly successful classroom teacher as demonstrated by state/district assessments
• Ability to travel and stay overnight when necessary
• Clear, professional communication in all mediums
