Salary Range: Minimum Hiring Annual Salary: $48,288.00 — Maximum Hiring Annual Salary: $52,152.00.

  • To attain the maximum annual salary, employee must meet all minimum qualifications plus:
    • 5 (five) years of additional applicable work experience and/or degrees higher than minimum qualification degree. Degrees higher than the minimum qualification degree can be used in combination with additional work experience.
    • A combination of related education, on-the-job work experience, certifications and/or licenses that results in a candidate successfully meeting the minimum qualifications of the position, may be considered.

Job Description

Aims Community College actively supports an environment that embraces the College’s Mission, Vision, Values and a culture of innovation and care. This is a grant‑funded position that is up for renewal in August 2026.

The Student Support Services Advisor is responsible for recruiting and welcoming participants, assessing their needs, and providing academic, career, and financial aid counseling. The advisor assists with transfer services to four‑year institutions and with financial aid and transfer processes. The advisor acts as a liaison to key offices, such as Enrollment and Financial Aid, managing a caseload, and monitoring student progress.

Additionally, the advisor maintains accurate records, reports on student academic status, and ensures compliance with institutional and federal reporting requirements. The advisor supervises up to three Peer Mentors, including training, tracking their hours, and supporting their personal and academic growth.

Responsibilities
  • Academic Advising & Student Development
    • Provide intensive, developmental academic advising to first‑generation and income‑eligible students, with a particular focus on first‑year engagement and retention.
    • Conduct individual advising sessions at least twice per semester to support students with course selection, educational planning, academic goal‑setting, and transfer preparation.
    • Assist students in identifying potential academic and career pathways, and guide them in researching and applying to four‑year institutions.
  • Recruitment & Program Outreach
    • Assist the Advisor II and Program Director in developing recruitment strategies, application materials, and communication processes to attract eligible students.
    • Support outreach efforts by delivering informational presentations to prospective students, parents, school counselors, and community stakeholders.
    • Maintain active communication with campus faculty, student services, and external partners to enhance program visibility and student referrals.
    • Participate in the review and evaluation of student applications, transcripts, and test scores; assist in applicant interviews and the selection of participants based on federally defined eligibility criteria.
  • Grant Compliance & Documentation
    • Ensure comprehensive and accurate documentation of all student interactions in compliance with U.S. Department of Education guidelines and institutional policies.
    • Collaborate with core grant personnel to monitor student progress and outcomes, contributing to data collection for the Annual Performance Report (APR).
    • Maintain detailed case notes and time logs for advising and student support sessions.
