Job Description

Responsibilities- Deliver high‑quality instruction on a wide variety of welding and cutting processes, including OAW, OFC, PAC, SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, GTAW, soldering, brazing, and thermal gouging.
- Supervise students to ensure the safe and proper use of the facility, equipment, and supplies.
- Evaluate student work and assign grades.
- Assist with basic maintenance and repair of welding program equipment.
- Participate in professional development and training activities to maintain instructional excellence.
- Assist full‑time faculty with program and curriculum review, revision, development, and assessment of learning.
- Use effective verbal and written communication skills to foster a supportive learning environment.
- Build and maintain positive professional relationships with students, faculty, staff, and administration.
- Work as a team member with cooperation and flexibility.
- Serve on advisory committee meetings and related activities as required.
- Develop relationships with industry and community partners to support program relevance.
- Implement department, division, and institutional goals as assigned.
- Accept additional duties assigned by the Welding Department Chair or Academic Dean.
- Deliver instruction that promotes clear communication and active learning.
- Design learning activities linked to measurable student outcomes.
- Use assessment data to refine instruction and participate in college‑wide teaching dialogues.
- Develop and revise departmental curriculum to ensure pedagogical and content relevance.
- Implement departmental, division, and institutional goals.
- Perform faculty advising duties and complete required documentation on time.
- Maintain accurate attendance, grade, and student records.
- Acquire and/or maintain relevant certifications.
- Create learner‑centered instructional methodologies.
- Complete coursework related to one’s teaching assignment.
- Expertise in welding and cutting processes: OAW, OFC, PAC, SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, GTAW, soldering, brazing, thermal gouging, structural and pipe welding.
- (WEL 1000) Associate degree or higher OR 2000 hours experience in an industrial safety program or a current relevant industry safety certification or licensure.
- (WEL 1001, 1003, 1010, 2001–2002, 2004, 2024, 2030–2031, 2050, 2089) Associate degree or higher and 4000 hours verifiable occupational welding experience, including expertise in OAW, OFC, PAC, CAC‑A, SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, GTAW. Demonstrable expertise may be shown through industry certifications, course transcripts, portfolio, or in‑person demonstrations.
- Qualified individuals may obtain WEL 1075–1077 and WEL 2075–2077 within three years of hire provided experience requirements are met.
Wages
:
Based on course content, wages range from $1,297.00 per credit to $3,753.00 per credit. In certain cases, faculty payment may be based on part‑time per‑credit pay and prorated at 10% per student.
