Position Summary
The University of Southern Indiana is accepting applications for the Call-In Circulation Services Clerk. This is a part-time position overseeing the Library Services counter and proctoring exams in the Testing Center when needed. The position primarily involves scheduled weekend and evening hours, with occasional weekday hours to cover leaves of absence.
Duties/Responsibilities
Open and close the library.Assist patrons at the checkout desk, checking items in and out.Serve as a certified test proctor when needed.Keep online systems and patron records up-to-date.Provide basic instruction on the use of printers, copiers, scanners; clarify library policies and procedures as needed.Assist with basic Microsoft Office questions and reference inquiries.Monitor routine security checks, respond to alarms, and maintain order in the library.Be trained in emergency procedures for fire, weather, and active shooter situations.Supervise student workers and keep the Circulation Manager informed of issues.Perform other duties as assigned.Required Knowledge and Skills
High school diploma or GED.Willing to become a certified test proctor.Ability to interpret and generate written and oral instructions.Strong judgment and decision-making skills.Adaptability and ability to cope with change.Preferred Knowledge and Skills
Bachelor's Degree.Experience handling high-pressure and emergency situations.Experience in giving and receiving detailed instructions.Experience supervising diverse individuals.Work Hours and Travel
- Saturdays 11:00am-5:00pm and occasional Saturdays 7:30am-4:00pm.
- Occasional weekday hours may be scheduled to cover leaves.
