Evansville Day School (Day School), in partnership with parents, offers a student-centered, college preparatory program supported by a challenging and comprehensive curriculum that encourages each student from Junior Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12 to strive for excellence in mind, body, and human spirit. Job Summary

This position encompasses teaching computer science, robotics, and engineering to upper school students in grades 6-12 at Day School. In , this role will focus primarily on collaborating with our partners Nextech to deliver a computer science & AI course as well as building a robotics club and course in partnership with our local FIRST mentors. The ability to teach engineering and physics would also be preferred.

The Day School Math and Science Departmental goals include developing within students the ability to make and support claims with evidence, tackle novel problems with flexible strategies, and design and conduct investigations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Teach five sections of upper school courses including computer science and robotics as well as engineering and physics if possible.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to design and implement an effective, engaging, and meaningful Upper School Math and Science scope and sequence that is vertically and horizontally aligned.
  • Employ inclusive and innovative instructional and assessment methods.
  • Create a warm and well-structured learning environment with consistent routines and high expectations that encourages and supports intellectual risk-taking and growth.
  • Provide timely individualized feedback to students.
  • Communicate proactively with families.
  • Serve as an advisor to upper school students.
  • Supervise students as assigned by Division Head.
  • Contribute to the life of Day School by coaching and/or leading student clubs and activities.
  • Be a visible presence at upper school events.
  • Actively participate in the Math and Science departments.
  • Actively participate in faculty meetings and professional development.
  • Model a commitment to lifelong learning and growth.
  • Uphold Day School’s Mission and core values.
  • Other duties may be assigned by the Head of School, Assistant Head of School, or Division Head.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree;
    Master’s degree, preferred.
  • Ability to teach computer science and robotics required.
  • Ability to teach engineering and physics, a plus.
  • Knowledgeable about the developmental needs of upper school students (grades 6-12).
  • Demonstrated ability to inspire students.
  • Exceptional written and oral skills.
