Your Job
The Injection Molding Process Engineer is responsible for developing, optimizing, and troubleshooting injection molding processes and equipment to ensure high-quality production, efficiency, and safety. This role supports manufacturing operations by driving continuous improvement initiatives, implementing best practices, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet production goals.
What you Will do in Your Role
- Drive a data-driven and scientific approach to injection molding equipment and processes.
- Develop and optimize injection molding processes for new and existing products.
- Conduct mold trials, validate tooling, and establish robust process parameters.
- Troubleshoot molding issues such as splay, flash, short shots, warpage, and dimensional inconsistencies.
- Collaborate with tooling, quality, automation, maintenance, and production teams to resolve process-related issues.
- Own root cause analysis and corrective actions for scrap reduction, cycle time improvements, and asset health and performance.
- Maintain and update process documentation including setup sheets, work instructions, and trial logbooks.
- Train technicians and operators on proper molding techniques and process controls.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Engineering or related field
- 3+ years of experience in injection molding process engineering manufacturing environment or equivalent
- Strong understanding of mold design and machine capabilities
- Proficiency in scientific molding principles and use of RJG or similar systems
- Experience with automation, robotics, and auxiliary experience
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and/or statistical process control SPC
- Ability to travel occasionally to vendors or other facilities
What Will Put You Ahead
- Preferable experience with high volume manufacturing or automotive environments
- Knowledge of IATF 16949 and ISO 9001 standards
- Green Belt or higher certification in Six Sigma
- ERP and CMMS system experience
- RJG Master Mold certification or AIM American Injection Molding certification
