Operations Engineer, Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Overview
We are looking for a Maintenance Planner to join Kaiser Aluminum Warrick Operations in Newburgh, Indiana. The Maintenance Planner supports the execution of mechanical work by receiving, planning, estimating, scheduling, and recording required historical data. They coordinate work orders with maintenance support to manage backlogs efficiently and ensure timely availability of facilities, equipment, parts, materials, and special tools for orderly and efficient work execution.
Responsibilities- Ensure safety is the number one priority.
- Plan and schedule maintenance work on a daily, weekly, and shutdown basis, track performance, and maintain accurate records.
- Liaise between the mechanical craft department and other areas served by craft personnel.
- Receive all mechanical requests (excluding emergencies) and direct them to the appropriate planner or engineer.
- Consult with engineering as needed.
- Analyze received work orders into basic job steps, determine sequences, and identify required parts, materials, skills, tools, and equipment.
- Estimate costs for work orders as required.
- Verify availability of parts, materials, and special tools.
- Maintain backlog file of work orders awaiting scheduling and manage backlog size and control recommendations.
- Chair the weekly scheduling meeting with operations, produce the weekly schedule, and issue work order packets to maintenance supervisors.
- Ensure equipment availability for scheduled work.
- Review completed work schedules and corresponding work orders.
- Collaborate with other planners to coordinate field and shop work.
- Develop standard job plans for recurring work based on historical experience to enhance the planning process.
- Assist Maintenance and Operations management in analyzing costs and recommending actions for cost efficiency.
- Maintain equipment history records through CMMS, including closed work orders, PM checklists, drawings, failure analysis, modifications, purchase requisitions, and correspondence.
- Develop or modify PMs as required based on equipment changes and needs.
- Make recommendations for planning and scheduling improvements.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum 3 years of industrial maintenance experience with some technical education beyond high school.
- Maintenance planning experience within CMMS.
- Associate’s Degree in a technical discipline is preferred.
