AboutThe Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Mining Estimator to join our team and take the lead in preparing detailed cost estimates for large-scale and complex mining projects. This role requires a thorough understanding of mining operations, attention to detail, and strong analytical and communication skills. You will collaborate with internal teams, review technical documents, and play a pivotal role in project planning and execution.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare comprehensive and detailed estimates for large, complex mining projects.
- Review project plans, drawings, and specifications to fully understand the scope of work and develop accurate cost assessments.
- Perform detailed quantity take-offs and fill in gaps when necessary to complete a full and accurate estimate.
- Review all bid and contract documents in coordination with the legal department.
- Collaborate with internal Estimators, Project Managers, and senior leadership to validate and reconcile project estimates.
- Present estimates to design teams and clients in a clear and professional manner.
- Conduct pre-bid site investigations to identify any operational challenges or unusual conditions.
- Apply engineering techniques and company procedures to estimate work and address bid requirements.
- Stay informed on industry trends, new technologies, equipment, and best practices.
- Prepare special reports or engineering studies for specific project requirements.
- Work closely with internal teams to resolve design, pricing, or schedule challenges during the bidding phase.
- Meet contract deadlines, which may occasionally require working extended hours, including nights and weekends.
- Participate in project meetings and site visits as required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mining estimating or closely related construction estimating field.
- Proven experience working on complex or large-scale construction or mining projects is highly preferred.
- Strong proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Excellent attention to detail, communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel as needed.
- Ability to manage tight deadlines and work collaboratively across departments.
