Imagine your first week You open Autodesk Inventor and spin a 3D smart model of a new pergola connection. By lunch, you have detailed drawings ready for review. In the afternoon, you partner with Manufacturing Engineering to streamline a routing, then switch gears to generate cutting patterns in AutoCAD and MPanel for a custom shade assembly. A quick call with Purchasing secures a promising new fabric, and you finish the day validating loads against IBC 2024, ASCE 7-22, and NFPA 701.
Theimpact you’ll make
- Design and deliver robust, manufacturable products spanning pool covers, shade systems, pergolas, and related structures.
- Create 3D-smart-models and complete drawing packages using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD.
- Produce precise cutting patterns for complex assemblies with AutoCAD, MPanel, and related tools.
- Ensure every design complies with building and safety codes, including IBC 2024, ASCE 7-22, and NFPA 701.
- Organize and manage part numbers, descriptions, and manufacturing routings for parts and assemblies within company systems.
- Advance design for manufacturing and Lean initiatives to reduce waste and improve throughput.
- Coordinate sourcing of new materials in partnership with Purchasing.
- Translate customer needs into clear product specifications through blueprint reviews and on-site visits.
- Drive projects with external vendors, engineers, customers, and sales representatives to on-time delivery.
- Manage tasks and milestones to support departmental and company goals; step in after hours when required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering.
- Entry-level experience up to 5 years in a relevant engineering role.
- Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD (or comparable CAD platforms).
- Exceptional Excel skills and comfort with spreadsheet-based analysis.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical policies, standard, and regulations.
- Clear written communication for reports and business correspondence, and the interpersonal skill to build rapport with stakeholders.
- Energy, ownership, and the capacity to juggle diverse tasks while meeting deadlines.
- Primarily office-based work with extended periods of sitting.
- Periodic time on the production floor and in the field; comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform frequent walking, bending, and kneeling as needed.
- Reports directly to the Design Engineering Manager.
- Collaborates with colleagues at every level across Anchor Industries.
