Senior Roadway Engineer

Lochmueller Group is seeking an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to join our Roadway/Highway Design team. We are looking for a technical expert who is passionate about roadway/highway design engineering, enhancing the quality of projects, and mentoring junior level staff.

In this position, the candidate will:

• Serve as a technical lead in the planning and execution of complex engineering projects
• Conduct advanced engineering analysis and design for specialized projects
• Provide technical guidance to project teams and junior engineers
• Stay updated on industry trends, codes, and emerging technologies
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to solve complex engineering challenges
• Contribute to the development and improvement of engineering processes and standards
• Mentor and coach junior and mid‑level engineers
• Act as a subject matter expert in a specific engineering discipline
• Perform QA/QC on project deliverables
• Participate in firm‑wide quality control initiatives
• Develop project scopes, budgets, and schedules for contract development
• Coordinate with other departments and sub‑consultants to allocate project scope and develop budget and schedule proposals
• Assist with business development efforts and prepare statements of qualifications and letters of interest
• May perform other duties associated with this role

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
• 15+ years of experience performing as a project engineer or project manager on local agency and/or DOT roadway projects
• Possesses advanced, specialized knowledge in roadway/highway design
• Licensed Professional Engineer
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Excel, Word, and Power Point
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work as part of a team and mentor junior level staff
