Director of Human Resources | Strong Executive Presence | Collaborative Business Partner

Design/redesign products, tooling, equipment and processes optimized for efficient, cost-effective and high-quality manufacturing by collaborating with design, engineering, and production teams to identify issues, improve manufacturability, and streamline the product development lifecycle from concept through production using NPD Stage/Gate processes and Six Sigma strategies to maximize quality, speed, and business impact of projects.

Working closely with manufacturing, finance, design, logistics, marketing and procurement, ensure optimal business solutions are implemented by leading projects, implementing new/existing product development where goals may require extensive cross-functional and cross-site coordination.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Work effectively as part of an engineering team and with the ability to direct others as necessary.
  • Define product features, tolerances, surface quality, material cost, packaging and shipping solutions.
  • Concept, design and develop new products and refine existing products, including necessary material selection, tooling, equipment sourcing and process development for ease of manufacturing.
  • Create CAD models, drawings, and prototypes toward eliminating unnecessary complexity and cost.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing to ensure feasibility, availability, sustainability and production scalability.
  • Conduct R&D, testing, analysis, material/tooling/equipment selection, and evaluations toward ensuring robust, sustainable manufacturing outcomes.
  • Work cross-functionally with quality, procurement, and operations to validate design intent and manufacturability.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce cycle time, scrap, and overall production costs.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions related to material/process/handling issues.
  • Maintain, produce and communicate project-related documentation, reports, and presentations.
Job Specifications
  • Desire to work as part of a multi-site team (Evansville IN and Salem OH) engaged hands‑on, creating new and evolving products, materials, equipment, processes and packaging.
  • Proficiency with CAD Solid Works and MS Office family of software (Excel, Word, etc.) required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering or related field.
  • Strong project management, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to close‑out projects in a timely manner.
  • Experience in product design, manufacturing engineering, packaging engineering or related discipline.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes; sheet metal forming, machining, injection molding, casting, welding, assembly, packaging and shipping.
  • Knowledge of plastic processes; thermoforming, composites, injection molding and extruding is a plus.
  • Experience with automation CNC and Robotic programming, parameter optimization for quality and cycle times, testing and prototyping products and processes for proof of concept.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, tolerance analysis, design verification methods and continuous improvement principles.
  • Ability to work with sales/marketing teams, communicating details toward bringing products to market and assisting with generation and updates of marketing assets (like feature‑lists, drawings, CAD).
