Why this role mattersAnchor Industries shapes outdoor environments through engineered products that must be beautiful, durable, and buildable. Your structural skill set and CAD expertise help convert customer requirements into code-compliant designs that run smoothly through manufacturing.
What you will do- Develop new products for pool covers, shade structures, pergolas, and related assemblies.
- Build 3D models and complete drawing sets using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD.
- Generate cutting patterns for complex fabric and membrane products using AutoCAD, MPanel, and similar software.
- Maintain accurate part numbers, descriptions, and manufacturing routings for parts and assemblies.
- Verify designs meet IBC 2024, ASCE 7-22, NFPA 701, and other applicable standards.
- Enable design-for-manufacturing and Lean Manufacturing improvements.
- Partner with Purchasing to source and qualify new materials.
- Create and refine product specifications based on customer needs via blueprint reviews and on-site visits.
- Lead and coordinate project deliverables with external vendors, engineers, customers, and sales representatives.
- Manage deadlines and priorities; support occasional work outside typical hours.
- Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD (or equivalent 3D CAD and drafting platforms).
- Excel mastery and strong spreadsheet analysis capabilities.
- Working knowledge of building codes and standards relevant to structural and fabric products.
- Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering.
- 0–5 years of relevant engineering experience.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret policies, technical documents, and regulations.
- Strong written communication for reports and business correspondence; skilled at building rapport across teams and with stakeholders.
- Demonstrated drive, follow-through, and comfort managing multiple parallel tasks.
- Office-centered role with extended sitting.
- Regular movement through production areas and occasional fieldwork; comfortable outdoors in changing weather.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform walking, bending, and kneeling as required.
- Reports to the Design Engineering Manager.
- Interfaces with Sales, Production, Manufacturing Engineering, Purchasing, and colleagues throughout Anchor Industries.
