Medical Laboratory Technician/Medical Laboratory Scientist Students are responsible (under direct supervision) for performing laboratory procedures and maintaining laboratory equipment. In this role, students are primarily involved in performing waived and moderate complexity testing. They will gain practical experience in a clinical laboratory setting, integrating theoretical knowledge with hands‑on practice. Students will learn to perform tests, calibrations, quality control, maintenance, and troubleshooting to ensure accurate laboratory results.
This position allows for professional growth as the student progresses toward becoming a certified Medical Laboratory Technician or Scientist.
The goal of this training program is to facilitate the transition from student to a full‑fledged Medical Laboratory Technician or Scientist upon certification. Students are encouraged to develop the necessary skills to meet laboratory standards and patient care needs while receiving continuous education and hands‑on experience.

What You Will DoPerform technical procedures, including assaying various analytes using instruments, computer systems, and automated/non‑automated procedures.
Conduct instrument maintenance, calibration, and quality control by performing routine checks and investigating basic malfunctions.
Document technical information, including calibrations, quality control results, and maintenance procedures.
Assist in preparing, inspecting, and issuing blood products, ensuring transfusion safety and adhering to patient identification protocols.
Participate in maintaining accurate records, reviewing lab reports, and ensuring that results are communicated properly.
Complete required training, continuing education, and competency assessments.
Assist in inventory management, including stock and order supplies.
Collaborate with the team on new test development, equipment recommendations, and troubleshooting.
Follow safety policies and laboratory procedures in compliance with regulatory standards.
RequirementsEnrollment in a Medical Laboratory Technician or Medical Laboratory Scientist program
High School Diploma or GED
Proof of enrollment and/or transcripts will be required
Strong attention to detail, critical thinking, and communication skills
Ability to work effectively in a team and follow instructions from experienced laboratory professionals
