Summary

The Lead Behavior Analyst (BCBA) reports to the Clinical Director/Chief Psychologist/Senior Psychologist and independently provides functional behavioral analytic services (assessment, treatment, and consultation) for patients in the CADD Inpatient and CADD Partial Programs. The Lead also supports training, coordination, and professional development of BCBAs across programs within the hospital setting.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities Lead Responsibilities
  • Supports onboarding, orienting, and training of new hires.
  • Coordinates BCBA responsibilities across programs.
  • Supports professional development of BCBAs within the hospital setting.
  • Facilitates peer supervision, individually or within a group setting, at least quarterly and as needed.
  • Completes chart reviews to ensure accurate and timely documentation.
Clinical Responsibilities
  • Implements evidence-based functional behavioral assessment and functional analysis procedures to address identified behaviors of concern.
  • Facilitates social‑emotional skills‑building groups using evidence-based systems.
  • Creates and implements behavior intervention plans to promote functionally alternative pro‑social behaviors.
  • Oversees implementation of behavior intervention plans.
  • Collaborates with clinical team members and communicates behavioral analytical concepts in a practical manner.
  • Models flexibility and uses solution‑focused problem‑solving strategies when discussing behavioral interventions.
  • Attends weekly treatment team meetings.
  • Provides in‑vivo staff coaching on effective implementation of behavior intervention plans, including feedback.
  • Maintains professional relationships with all team members.
  • Utilizes a functional assessment interview approach with families during intake and with BHS staff to obtain feedback on behavioral treatment approaches.
  • Utilizes a data collection system for analysis of behavioral treatment goals and communicates progress to the treatment team.
  • Creates and facilitates staff education‑training seminars on implementation of ABA principles and behavior reduction strategies.
  • Participates in family meetings assigned by the clinical team to engage in parent coaching, including education on ABA principles.
  • Participates in collateral provider meetings (e.g., outpatient, school, family) to convey outcomes and ensure continuity of care upon discharge.
  • Creates a treatment fidelity system used during observations to ensure consistent implementation across all staff.
  • Connects with outside providers to obtain information on patients’ behavioral treatment history.
  • Oversees purchasing and distribution of support materials used with patients.
  • Documents assessment, treatment, and collateral contacts within the Electronic Medical Record.
  • Completes chart reviews to ensure accurate and timely documentation.
Basic Knowledge
  • Master’s degree in Applied Behavioral Analysis or a related field.
  • Knowledge and skills needed to provide care to patients considering aging processes, human development stages, and cultural patterns.
  • Certification from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or pending certification (must provide evidence within the first year).
  • Maintenance of BCBA certification by meeting BACB requirements.
  • Up‑to‑date knowledge of BACB revisions and requirements.
  • Licensure by the RI Department of Health as a licensed Behavior Analyst.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, etc.).
Experience

Minimum five years’ experience working with children and adolescents who present with developmental disabilities (autism and intellectual disability) and co‑existing behavioral and psychiatric challenges; preference for prior experience in a mental health setting.

Work Environment and

Physical Requirements

Works in a normal office environment with daily contact with patients being treated within an inpatient psychiatric hospital setting.

Independent Action

Performs independently within program policies and practices.

Supervisory Responsibility

Supervises behavioral interventions and implementation of behavior programs for all patients; does not directly supervise any other staff.

Pay Range

$69,732.94 – $
