Summary
The Clinical Nurse Manager reports to the Clinical Nurse Director. Under general direction and within Bradley Hospital policies and procedures, assists in the implementation of the Nursing and Patient Care Services Program and the online clinical administration of the Program. Functions as a member of the Unit management team. Performs unit charge RN and hospital-wide relief nursing supervisor roles as assigned.
Provides services to children and adolescents. Actively collaborates with interdisciplinary team.

Has 24-hour responsibility for ensuring a safe and therapeutic milieu. Directs and coordinates the unit nursing milieu therapy and clerical staff to ensure that the delivery of care to patients and families is in accordance with their prescribed treatment plan. In collaboration with the Clinical Nursing Director, is responsible for coordinating the selection and hiring of new nursing and milieu therapy staff, as well as arranging for their clinical supervision and training.
Ensures that all staff members abide by hospital policies and procedures.
Exhibits practice ethic congruent with the Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing Standards of the American Nurses Association (ANA), the RI Nurse Practice Act, and Bradley Nursing Management Guiding Principles. Maintains active RI Registered Nurse License. Performs all job responsibilities in a professional manner, meeting all ethical responsibilities to clients, colleagues, subordinates, employing organization and the profession as described in the ANA Code of Professional Nursing.
Strictly adheres to the Department of Nursing and Milieu Services Management Team Guiding Principles. Demonstrates clinical and administrative effectiveness providing leadership to the combined staff/patient Program milieu. Consistently demonstrates high level application of the clinical “nursing process” with patients/families, providing direct patient care when assigned. Demonstrates ongoing administrative expertise in the shift-to-shift nursing/milieu services management of the Program. Assures appropriate delegation of tasks and accountability for patient care.
Utilizes clinical and administrative expertise to make informed judgments regarding shift-to-shift patient care assignments to online clinical staff. Intervenes to assertively manage complex nursing care problems utilizing the least restrictive safe patient care alternative. Communicates and documents significant clinicaladministrative findings to Nurse Director in a timely fashion. Supports Direct Care staff to develop and maintain patient advocacy role. Models and supports Direct Care staff to resolve conflicts and concerns through direct communication and proactive problem solving.
Strictly adheres to Program policies and procedures, JC acute care standards, and Program clinicaladministrative protocols. Prioritizes the maintenance of a safe and dignified patient care setting. Exhibits clinical leadership excellence through assertive participation in program-based treatment planning/discussion forums. Demonstrates management leadership excellence through assertive participation in on/off program administrative forums. Functions as Program Charge RN when scheduled. Acts as Clinical Nurse Director representative when assigned.
Demonstrates clinical leadership expertise in the supervision, teaching, and evaluation of Direct Care clinical staff. Identifies standards of child psychiatric nursing and milieu therapist performance consistent with Program and Hospital standards of practice and care. Communicates the expectation that program-basis psychiatric nursing and patient care services will be practiced in accordance with Hospital/Unit policy. Maintains a current awareness of online clinical abilities and limitations of staff RN's, Milieu Therapists, and Program Clerks.
Provides nursing and milieu therapy supervision to online clinical staff as assigned. Consistently documents registered nursing and Milieu Therapist performance information in accordance with Hospital policy. Participates supportively in addressing problematic performance standards of Unit-based staff. Provides effective consultation to Unit Clinical Nurse Director in the hiring and evaluation of online clinical staff. Consistently updates Unit nursing and milieu service staff…
