Med/Surg RN Job Details

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Indiana or compact state)
• BLS Certification (required before first shift)
• ACLS Certification (required before first shift)
• Minimum 1 year of recent clinical experience in a Med/Surg or medical-surgical nursing setting
• Strong patient assessment, documentation, and communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments and develop individualized patient care plans
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in accordance with clinical protocols and safety standards
• Supervise and mentor Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), and orientees
• Accurately document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the electronic medical record
• Participate in patient rehabilitation programs and interdisciplinary healthcare team conferences
• Initiate discharge planning and provide patient/family education from admission
• Promote a safe hospital environment by adhering to healthcare safety policies and procedures
• Foster a positive team environment and participate in unit-based team-building activities
• Assume charge nurse responsibilities as needed after orientation
• Engage in ongoing professional development and continuing nursing education
