Evansville State Hospital is one of the Indiana State Psychiatric Hospitals who are committed to the mission of Hope and Recovery. Residing on 88 acres on the east side of Evansville, Ind., our facility provides medical treatment for chronic mental illness and substance abuse disorders from our dedicated team of psychiatrists and advanced practice professionals. Active Treatment helps our patients achieve their goals directed towards living in the most non-restrictive environment possible.
Our team of professionals assist our patients in the treatment process involving medical staff, nursing, psychology, social work, rehabilitation therapy and our community integration program. Evansville State Hospital continues to maintain accreditation through The Joint Commission as an Inpatient Psychiatric Hospital as well as Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services certification as a Psychiatric Medicare/Medicaid Hospital.
Salary StatementThe salary for this position traditionally starts at $71,500.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.
A Day in the Life Program Administration Support- Prioritize and organize the daily care of individuals to ensure consistent and effective service delivery.
- Make care assignments and assist in creating treatment plans in collaboration with other clinical staff to meet individual needs.
- Provide orientation and support to staff and to the unit to maintain continuity and quality of care.
- Direct support staff to coordinate workflow and communicate problems to the Charge Nurse Supervisor to ensure smooth operations.
- Complete required documentation of nursing notes, transfer forms, and other records to maintain accurate and timely reporting.
- Provide ongoing assessment and documentation of individuals' physical and psychosocial status from admission to discharge to inform care decisions.
- Administer medications and treatments according to state-operated health care facility policies and procedures to support recovery and wellness.
- Develop and implement nursing care plans for diagnosis or treatment plan changes to adapt to evolving needs.
- Complete medication administration supervision monitors and clinical observation notes for support staff to ensure compliance and quality.
- Respond and intervene in emergency situations and with agitated individuals to maintain safety and therapeutic environment.
- Educate individuals and family members regarding medication, procedures, and treatment goals and objectives to promote understanding and engagement.
- Ensure proper safety and infection control standards are met for the unit to protect staff and individuals.

What You'll Need for Success Supporting Organizational Goals- Knowledge of and ability to interpret nursing and facility policies and procedures.
- Ability to serve as a patient advocate.
- Proficiency in computer skills and ability to learn programs used in maintaining electronic medical records.
- Ability to use MS Office applications and electronic patient records.
- Ability to understand and apply medical and facility terminology.
- Effective interpersonal skills, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to educate individuals and families regarding medication, procedures, and treatment goals.
- Additional knowledge and/or ability may be required based on the population the facility serves (e.g., children, adolescents, geriatrics).
- Must possess an Associate or Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited college.
- Must have a license to practice nursing in the State of Indiana as a Registered Nurse.
- Must hold and maintain CPR certification.
- Must stay current with behavioral intervention training.
