The Lab Supervisor will provide technical, operational, and analytical support to the Quality Control lab, production units, and business teams for driving improvements to the QC laboratory and assist with quality notification investigations. The focus of the position is to ensure the laboratory provides accurate, reliable, and timely dataand support to internal and external customers. The Lab supervisor will support and/or lead quality maintenance and improvement initiatives.
The Lab Supervisor monitors and advises on how the quality and testing lab systemare performing, which may often include the publication of statistics regarding performance against set measures. Additionally, they will be responsible for supporting the development and maintenance of a customer targets in the site’s strategic plan. General knowledge of statistics is required coupled with good interpersonal skills and the ability to assimilate and analyze information.
Day in the Life
- Accountable for personal safety, the safety of co-workers, and for promoting a safe work environment.
- Ensure UL and NSF compliance, including monitoring and submissions.
- Ensure compliance to ASTM, ISO, and / or customer mandated protocols, when applicable.
- Supervise all lab and color mix employees on all shifts.
- Execute Quality training for new hires and oversee training schedules, ensuring that programs are delivered on time and according to internal timelines.
- Assist with customer complaint resolution, prevention and effectiveness verification
- Ensure acquisition of customer and retain samples and assist with customer complaints
- Collect and submit samples for outside (contract or customer) testing.
- Responsible for testing lab performance.
- Ensure equipment verification and calibration programs are properly maintained.
- Work with all campus operation departments as needed to manage and improve quality systems.
- Ensure that the components of the Quality System are in place, maintained and effective.
- Drive the nonconformance process including disposition of nonconforming materials.
- All other duties not specifically assigned
- Five plus years’ experience in a quality related role
- High School/GED required, bachelor’s degree preferred
- Experience in ISO and IATF Certification.
- Certified Quality Engineer or Six Sigma Green Belt
- Corrective Action Tools Training (SPC, Capability Studies, DOEs, Regression Analysis, Graphical Analysis, Gage R&R)
- Measurement System Analysis
