Field Technician - Evansville

Pillar Innovations is an Industrial Solutions and Service Company with 15 years of experience in the Energy, Mining, Manufacturing, Industrial Construction, Aggregate, and Renewables Industries. The Corporate Headquarters are located in Grantsville, MD with several offices throughout the country.

Evansville, IN

Salary: USD $18.00 per hour – USD $26.00 per hour

Responsibilities
  • Assist with the installation of electrical and controls hardware, fiber optic cable, fire suppression systems, and any other applicable services provided by the Evansville Division
  • Become familiar with fiber optic equipment such as splicers, OTDR, traffic identifiers, light-source power meter, fiber specific hand tools, etc.
  • Learn proper methods and procedures for terminating, splicing, and testing fiber optic cables, installing electrical conduit and cables, and installing fire suppression systems
  • Learn industry‑standard procedures for safety, electrical, and fiber optics
  • Assist other divisions as/when needed for various services, which could include extensive travel
  • Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, schematics and operational product manuals
  • Possess technical/mechanical knowledge and abilities; electrical and fiber optic knowledge is a plus
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and schematics
  • Attend training and remain updated with regard to industry standards and requirements
  • Be able to work underground for extended periods of time
  • Underground mining experience is a plus but not required
  • Work a flexible schedule and adjust to changing business needs, including possible emergency call‑out, extended hours, and some out‑of‑town and overnight work
Working Conditions
  • Walk/use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb ladders and stairs, crawl, kneel
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Perform duties on‑site and underground at industrial locations
  • Wear safety equipment as per OSHA/MSHA requirements, including steel‑toed/shoes, hard hat, lanyard, fire‑retardant, protective eyewear, etc.
  • Be safety‑and‑customer‑focused, without exception
