Availability: Monday-Friday;
Hours will vary based on school/branch. Must be available for shifts between 6:00am-6:30 pm.

What you will do at the Y:

School‑Age Care Leads teach teamwork and social skills to children in Before and After School settings as they grow and learn. The majority of responsibilities are working directly with youth with complex needs in a one‑on‑one or small group setting, ensuring their safety, well‑being and development through interactive play and other activities as directed. They help support the onsite functions of a site with additional responsibilities related to family interactions, check in and out and site management.

Job Duties /Responsibilities:
  • Implement daily lesson and activity plans
  • Work directly with children with complex needs within program area
  • Regularly observes, schedules and completes evaluations for each child
  • Maintain communication with families
  • Maintain materials, equipment, and program facility
  • Maintain required program records
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • 2 years’ experience working with children with complex needs, preferred
  • Meet educational and experience qualifications established by Dept of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF)
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent;
  • Have completed twelve college credits in any one hundred‑level or above college coursework within five years of employment
  • Provide document of all certification and training requirements established by DCYF, including position prerequisites, current negative TB test, other required vaccinations, and portable background check
  • Plan, organize, and implement high quality developmentally appropriate programming
  • Fluency in second language preferred
