Northwest Transit Planning Practice Lead
HDR is seeking a Regional Transit Planning Practice Leader to enhance our growing Transportation Planning Business Class and Transit Market Sector. The role bridges strategic planning, market opportunity development, technical staff leadership, and client engagement across the United States.
Responsibilities- Collaborate with HDR’s Transit Planning Practice Leader to define practice group strategy, industry trends, emerging markets, and skill requirements.
- Coordinate regional market analysis, develop products, and present needs on regular practice group calls.
- Contribute to technical development of transit planning staff in policy, systems/network planning, corridor planning, operations, safety, funding, and all transit modes.
- Identify market opportunities with Area Business Development Leaders and craft pursuit strategies.
- Recruit and retain transit planning talent in partnership with corporate leadership.
- Lead cross‑functional workshare communications to enhance technical excellence.
- Serve as project manager for major transit projects, delivering quality work on time and meeting or exceeding client expectations.
- Represent HDR at state and regional professional organizations.
- Perform related duties as required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Engineering, or related discipline required.
- Minimum of 10 years of transit planning experience, covering multiple planning disciplines.
- Experience developing and implementing strategic plans for team building, skills development, and business development.
- Master’s degree in Planning, Engineering, or related discipline preferred.
- Professional registrations such as AICP, PE, PTOE, PTP, PMP preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of transportation planning experience.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills.
- Strong understanding of transit planning principles.
- Positive attitude and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and personnel.
- Solid business development skills and strong presentation skills.

Expected compensation ranges:
Washington $94,364–$170,280;
Montana $89,397–$134,805.
Primary location:
Bellevue, Washington. Other potential locations include Pasco, Everett, Spokane, and other national sites as requested.
